The Brest Festival is junior to the Agence du Court Métrage by only two years and so it's a pleasure for the Parisian big brother to come and join in the 30th anniversary celebrations. The question was, how could we condense 30 years of French short film into one programme? Our decision was to screen films that the agency has recently restored and digitalised, thanks to the help of the CNC. The programme is made up of seven films, from a Pialat masterpiece dated 1961 to Journal animé from 1998, a visually beautiful New-Yorker from Klapisch, Agression méconnue from 1973, a Giannoli which resonates with a certain Marguerite and a melancholy refrain from Bourvil, which hasn't been off screens for the last twenty years. The programme will also mark the departure of the managing director of the Agency from 1998 to 2015, Philippe Germain.
