L'Europe en court

For the last 4 years, this category has been an attempt to reveal European filmaking, notably thanks to a collaborative approach with the different cultural representatives invited to the festival. By presenting the work of festivals, film schools or promotional and broadcasting structures for short films, this showcase brings together different artistic tendencies, creating programmes which explore the specificities and characteristics of a particular country’s filmaking.

Between East and West : Zubroffka Short Film Festival

WEDNESDAY 12 - 21H30 - LE QUARTZ, PETIT THÉÂTRE
FRIDAY 14 - 18H - LE QUARTZ, GRAND THÉÂTRE

Zubroffka Short Film Festival is one of the most exciting film events in Poland. Held annually in the middle of the famous Polish winter, in the north-east of Poland (yes, it is colder there). Anyway, the land of bisons (they really do exist) brings together thousands of short film lovers to watch nearly 300 shorts every December.

We are very honoured to present a selection of contemporary Polish short films. This programme might be different from what you expect from Polish cinema. Young directors don't look back as much as their older collegues. They still need to fight, but with everyday life. These names represent a new, younger generation in Polish cinema. After the big success these short films have experienced on the festival circuit, most of these filmakers are already working on feature-length projects.
