Program

The Brest European Short Film Festival runs from November 10 to 15, 2026. European, French and Brittany competitions, off-programs, retrospective, meetings and screenings for young audiences, discover the films selected for this 41th edition!

The Festival is a space for artistic freedom; here are a few tips to help you enjoy it to the fullest:

Marked in green on the schedule: Screenings specifically tailored for young audiences, with the recommended minimum age indicated.

The rest of the program is generally intended for a “mature” audience. Generally for ages 14 and up, unless otherwise noted: some screenings include a content warning (!) while others are family-friendly for ages 10 and up (*)

For audience members who would like details on sensitive topics featured in the films, you can now refer to the Trigger Warning.

Do we perceive a film differently depending on the place and context in which we watch it? How does the way a film is screened shape our perspective? In what ways are screening venues essential links in the chain of film literacy? This event, which is open to all and encourages participation, will feature four innovative venues that are devising new ways of screening films — particularly for young people — to encourage audiences to engage actively with the images and restore cinema’s collective dimension. This session is part of the regional symposium on arts and cultural education, organised in collaboration with DRAC Bretagne, DRAEAC, DRAJES and the Brittany Region. [in French only]
